Rutu Shelke
Storyteller based in London
Hello! I’m Rutu Shelke, a visual storyteller from India. I studied Creative Education at Srishti Institute of Art, Design, and Technology, and I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Fine Arts Communication at the Royal College of Art in London.
My journey in the fields of art and design has led me from being a visual designer to becoming a communication artist who explores not just how things look, but how they feel, sound, and resonate on a deeper level. I hope to speak through not just visuals, but through all senses.
My work explores themes of identity, nature, culture, and the shifting nature of truth. I’m inspired by the idea that what we see isn’t always what is, much like Magritte’s “This is not a pipe,” I aim to question surface meanings and invite reflection.
Through illustration, sound, storytelling, and immersive experiences, I create work that encourages people to slow down, look closer, and reconnect with themselves, each other, and the world around them.
