Trigger

The trigger is a book is made for you to get in touch with the emotional association you have made with different words, question whether it was formed by you or was imparted on to you by this world.
Trigger explores the theories and associations we have made over the years surrounding visual language. 
"Ceci n'est pas une pipe" by Rene Margitte was a inspiration to this study of semiotics. As a teenager, this particular piece by Margitte intrigued me evoked curiosity. The way this seemingly simple piece held such great power and complexity astonished me.  

Trigger draws inspiration from that stage of questioning and understanding Margitte's works. 
The way we interpret words and visual language is not just solely based upon the understanding and the knowledge of the language itself but on our perceptions, our culture, our upbringing, essentially our surroundings. The trigger was an experiment to explore these connections made with certain words and to question those connections and be aware of the process of our understanding.
