Release Series
2D pattern illustration, August, 2021
"Release Series" was inspired by the fatigue faced after "work from home" hours. While working from home allowed us to stay safe from the virus outside it proposed its challenges. The module which promoted convenience soon became inconvenient for a majority of people. The endless hours working in front of the screens allowed us to stay on top of work but the monotonousness of the daily routine had adverse effects on our moods, productivity, mental as well as physical health.
The "Release Series" was curated to beat the fatigue and exhaustion you felt after work and to allow for creativity to flow without having the pressure to create something out of the box.
The first stroke is the hardest while creating any work is an ideology I strongly believe in. Even as kids we are promoted to use coloring booking to help stimulate our energy and feel calm. Psychologically coloring can relax the fear center of your brain. It prompts the same state as meditating by reducing the thoughts of a restless mind. This generates mindfulness and quietness, which allows your mind to get some rest after a long day at work.
In this series, I aimed to create repetition through these patterns to represent the monotonousness of the post-pandemic work life and find beauty in it. The monotonousness illustrated through the simple visuals allows the creator to color the pattern through their perspective and prompts them to find a different perspective by the end.
